Chairlady 2025/2026
Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak
Chairman of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (Sarawak Branch)
Dear Esteemed Members,
It is with profound honour and purpose that I serve as Chairlady of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (Sarawak Branch) for the 2025/2026 term. I am thankful for your trust, and the strong foundation built by my predecessors whose dedication has shaped our branch into a respected and dynamic professional body.
Sarawak is at a defining moment in its history, advancing boldly towards becoming a green energy powerhouse, a leader in digital transformation, and a model of sustainable development. These ambitions are not abstract goals; they are opportunities for engineers to take centre stage in shaping Sarawak’s future. We are more than technical experts, we are architects of progress, guardians of our environment, and enablers of social and economic resilience.
Engineering goes beyond the drawing board. It drives innovation, inspires the next generation, and builds the physical and digital backbone of our communities. In line with the Sarawak’s aspirations, IEM Sarawak will continue to champion excellence, innovation, and inclusivity, ensuring that our profession remains a driving force in building a future that benefits both our people and the generations to come.
I am privileged to lead a dedicated and dynamic committee whose collective expertise, energy, and commitment will be the driving force of our term. Together, we will not only strengthen the professional growth of our members but also expand our engagement with industry, academia, and government to position Sarawak as a leader in engineering excellence.
Under my committee’s leadership, the Young Engineers Section (YES) will remain a strong pillar of IEM Sarawak, nurturing young talent, empowering emerging leaders, and fostering innovation among the next generation of engineers. By guiding them with mentorship and opportunities, we will ensure that Sarawak’s future engineers are ready to take on challenges with skill, creativity, and purpose.
As we move forward, we must be bold in our ideas, proactive in our actions, and united in our purpose. The challenges ahead will be complex, but so will the opportunities. By working together, sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and embracing change, we can strengthen Sarawak’s position not only in Malaysia but also on the global stage.
Let us lead with vision, work with purpose, and build with integrity, forging a future where engineering excellence drives sustainable progress for all.
Empowering Engineers of Sarawak to Shape, Safeguard, and Sustain a Greener Future for Malaysia and Beyond

G & S Section
About Graduate & Student Section (G&S - YES Graduate)
The Graduate and Student (G&S) Section of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia was established more than 30 years ago (in the early 70s). The main objective of the G&S Section is to cultivate and expose young engineers into the professional engineering world. At the same time, this exposure will enhance their rapport among fellow engineers and acts as a platform for them to embark on a career in engineering. As at May 2004, the G&S Section has over 7800 members, which amounts to almost half of total IEM membership. Approximately 3/4 of this figure comprise of Graduate members, with the balance being Student members. These figures are expected to significantly increase in the near future as a growing pool of technical engineering expertise is necessary to support Malaysia's rapid path towards industrialisation. As the G&S Section sails into the New Millennium foreseeing more challenges ahead, the current Committee has recently spent significant effort to develop a clear vision of the Section's role in IEM.
